Named after the legendary James D. Hobbs, grandfather to Brian Theriot, and Hazel Hobbs, grandmother to Brian Theriot, Cabin 3 is also a testament to the lore of the Castella Valley with Jim and Hazel Hobbs being two of the most noted citizens since the early 60’s in Castella. Hobbs was a town fixture after the death of Hazel living next to Ammirati’s Market and Castella Post Office for two decades. Brian Theriot utilized Castella as a training zone for his world class running in the 80’s 800 meters and 1500 meters plus mile (3:56.19) eventually earning a bronze medal United States National Championships 1984 800 meters. Cabin 3 is also noted to be a meeting place for JFK and Monroe.
